Help needed ((( I am thick ))) RE: how to embed the K3ii GPS data into my photos.

As long as the GPS was switched on when you took the photo the GPS data will be part of the EXIF data. So your problem must be with iPhoto. This is obsolete now as Apple have Photos on the newer operating systems. I can't help much further other than to say iPhoto must be your issue. I use Lightroom.

I know nothing about iphoto but a Google search came up with this article dated November 2013:
https://support.apple.com/kb/PH15146?locale=en_US
Apparently iphoto has since been discontinued so if that advice isn't valid now it might be it doesn't support Pentax exif.

Just asking - is there such a thing as "Pentax exif" - surely exif is exif and the GPS values will be present in the relevant exif fields.

Each manufacturer has their own variety of it. Some of it is standardized and some of it isn't. I would presume iphoto is pretty apple-centric rather than Pentax orientated.
Edit: Just to add the K3ii and K-1 writes exif version 2.30, does iphoto support that? If its an old program it might not. This post in the Apple support forum suggests GPS support might not be included in iphoto: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2621889?tstart=0

This is the only problem i can't master since my Canon - Pentax swap. I kind of thought it would automatically record it in the EXIF data.
So to sum up, i have the GPS calibrated, and turned on all the time. I physically put my SD card into the iMac and the photos automatically upload to iPhoto. I'm soon getting an Eye-fi card so this will change.
Thank you in advance
Stephen
