Helicopter near home
Certainly the longer lens would have been useful - but I really need to watch how much gear I'm carrying .
Wonder what was going on ?

About the wrong lens at the wrong moment... I too missed quite a few opportunities lately so seriously consider to go for a second body to pair with the 300mm as my main interest is wildlife.
Just need to figure out what suits best..
Lots of lessons learned from my little effort - so that's not been a wasted effort

first the original - taken on AV with ISO 200 f5.6 and 1/6000
And then I decided to crop to see what I could make out
Not perfect by any manner of means - I'll need to watch for vignetting in future - but this has let me see what I'm getting . Clearly I'd have been better with a tripod - but by that time the opportunity could well have been lost . The Tamron 18-250 would have probably been better too - but that was upstairs and again , but by the time I'd struggled up and got it and come down , put it on ........
And looking out of the window now, the clouds would have been very near black.
It's been an interesting experience - and I wasted no time over this taken the shot put through Aperture very quickly and well here's the result - and lessons learnt.
This was , as far as I can tell , over Castlemilk
