I'm delighted that my Christmas present has just arrived.

I've just updated the Firmware to 1.16 on both K-5 bodies, without which the AF function will not work. Next step is to get out to Martin Mere and have a go with a variety of lenses.

There's a long lens compatibility list and it's going to be worth trying out with some wider lenses as well as the obvious telephoto ones.

It might be a few days before this is used in anger for the first time, but when I have some results I'll certainly post them.
Best regards, John

Prospective purchasers could also check that the camera body they have is compatible with the AF via the converter. Ten are listed on the leaflet that comes with the lens, but it's dated as of January 2014. I guess that gives us a clue as to how long it takes new items to get through the supply chain!

The cameras listed as OK are: K-3, K-50, K-500, K-30, K-5II, K-5 IIs, K-5, K-01, K-7, K-r. There's a footnote that focus may not be acquired with phase detection AF on the K-7.

I'll add that the converter works perfectly well with the (unlisted) 18 - 135mm DA WR on my K5. Quite a surprise at the min F8 at full telephoto.

I've briefly tested it on the 55-300mm and that's fine as well.

While we're sharing info on this, there's also a list of lenses that the converter should not be used with:

15mm f/4 Limited
21mm f/3.2 Limited
40mm f/2.8 XS

Obviously the DA* 300 mm is a prime candidate and rarely take it off that now. Also good with DFA 100mm macro.

There's nothing on the audit trail, so I can only presume it failed to post for some reason. Now and again, not often, I've failed to post something by neglecting to press the button marked "Add Comment"!
