Thank you Ralph for taking the time to do some macro tests. The closers macro shots are hard to compare simply because they take on a different "look" when so close, but they do still seem very good quality. The slightly further back shots are probably a better comparison for me, and they do look very good - far better than anything I've achieved with the DFA100WR Macro and a converter.
Much appreciated

I, honestly, have no idea what that is!!! Sounds very dubious to me

LennyBloke, I simply kept the camera static and took the shots with and without from the same position. TBH I think you could crop the normal image and achieve results that would be difficult to tell from the TC results.
Is it worth £350? Juries out at the moment. I have tried several different shots with my 60-250 and haven't achieved particularly good results. However that could be me. I need to spend a bit more time with it.
I specifically bought this for a whale watching trip I'm hoping to do, in Iceland, in July. I wanted to maintain the weather sealing and extend the reach of my lens. I had thought about a Bigma 150-500 but it seemed a big lump to carry around just for one event.

ah but will the Sigma 150-500 or even the 50-500 work with this new gadget?

From what I have read non of Sigma's HSM lenses will autofocus or report the correct focal length/aperture with the new Pentax rear converter.

Thanks Mike. Do you know if there is a list of which Pentax lenses from the F series onwards it will work with, or is it purely for the DA's?

The F 35-70, F 80-200, FA 100-300 powerzoom and the FAJ 75-300 all work with it.

You don't always need a long zoom and TC! This was with a compact. Taken just of Newfoundland.

That is as shot, just reduced in size, NOT cropped.

That would be a sparrows eye.
A stinkers eye would be a starlings eye.

Ah, I see.
I did try setting it up for some bird shots but couldn't get the 'catch in focus' to work as the lens has no MFN switch and I didn't have the time to start taping up terminals etc.
I'll try and set something up at the weekend.

Well I just ordered mine off Amazon as they had one in stock. Will arrive tomorrow then I can give it a try with the DA* and HSM lenses.
Nice thing with Amazon is I can return it within a month if it's not up to scratch (and if it is I can still send it back and buy one from SRS at the beginning of the air show season)
Will be interested to see how it performs with the FA* 250-600mm f5.6

And I'll make sure I don't order from Amazon to ensure I do not get a pre-owned copy.
