Considering the price difference between the HD and non-HD Limiteds, we'd assume that the same will be for this one, but that WR tag looks mighty tasty!

Really looking forward to want the Pentax/Ricoh camp have to bring with us this coming week!

The present lens is a dust vacuum. Shame no mention of DC for a motor as the 18 - 135mm DA WR I have.

The 120 to 360mm DA on the road map is the one I fancy next.

Well mine is, not that fine dust behind the objective lens shows in my photos.

My 18 - 135 WR shows no such issues.

Must be all those dusty trips to Egypt, Cyprus, Greece etc. Why would I make it up Algernon?

The cells that contain the elements in most lenses are usually
quite well sealed against dust coming in from outside. Normally
dust will only enter if the elements are actually removed.
That's why they are assembled in a dust free room.

My 55-300mm is spotless inside and I've had it for several
years and use it quite a lot.

I've had my DA 55-300 for 3 years and haven't had any dust issues on either of the bodies I've used it on. The WR version sounds very interesting indeed.
Cheers Paul

Most lenses have little bits of dust and debris inside. It can be from air being drawn in along with particles, especially with zooms. It can be seals and other parts wearing and giving off various bits of detritus.

However, it normally has no effect whatsoever on image quality.

This would be a major fail if it does not have a DC motor
K5iis and a couple of lenses.

Got to agree with the dust comment mine is quite bad, but as mentioned not an issue with image quality so far, but when using it I do have to use the sensor cleaning option quite vigorously.

But on to the WR version, will definitely be on the shopping list after the body upgrade, especially if it carries on with the same qualities of the current 55-300. I think this is great as there hadn't been any mention anywhere that I know of that this was in the pipeline.

I am currently looking for a zoom, and the price of this one will dictate whether I get a WR version of this... or not!

If it's anything like the SMC DA ltds --> HD DA ltds, then expect a price increase of around 60%.

The 55-300mm was crying out to be a WR lens, so it's good that it now is. I guess the price will settle given a little time. It usually does.

The price is about what I'd expected, but I'll keep my old version for now, I barely use it anyway.
