gotta love the K5
Super shot- really like it, amazing how much you can pull out of the K5.
Have to agree, great shot.
I haven't noticed any iffy focus as such. You may have to help it with a contrasty edge, but the K5 still gets there accurately in my experience - hopefully the subject hasn't moved

Is the K-3 so bad for this sort of thing? I'm still sitting on the fence about upgrading to the 5 or the 3...

I use lightroom Kris. If you set exposure generally for the midtones, there is a shadow slider where you can specifically lift the shadows. I use this a lot. For under the wings of birds for example. It works great with the K5, but not nearly as good with the K3.
By the time I make a decision the K-1 will be out!
