'Gift' 35-70 BUT with 'Stuck Focus Ring'

a Forum Member sent me a 'Surprise Package' saying I could DUMP contents if it was no good -- well on opening all excited I found a 'Mint' SMC -F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5 Short Zoom BUT with a stuck Focus Ring -- BUMMER ! Anyway -- emailed 'Asahi Photo' in Brentford and got reply saying " NO SPARES for that lens so cannot help" - another BUMMER !! Gently played with it then contacted several Forums but no luck -- the TODAY another go -- this time I pulled the lens to '70mm Macro' and Suddenly -- Focus Ring un-froze! YO !! No longer a Bummer but a working lens on both Auto and Manual focus -- keeping fingers crossed I used my K10D for some 'test snaps' ---

When it's working, the F 35-70 lens seems to have lightning fast AF, and it gives good results.
