No problem.
Yes, probably the easiest way is to create a separate album called iPad or something, and drag there the photos you want to have also on the iPad. Once you drag them there, you will have them copied. Or you can create "smart albums" and have select those to be synced. You can define for instance that all photos that you have rated higher than (say) *** are automatically in a smart album.....
Also: are you aware of Photo Stream? If enabled, it copies all your latest photos between your apple devices. For instance:
- if you load photos on your mac they will be sent also to your iPad (iPhone, iPod....)
- if you load a photo on your iPad it will be sent to your Mac (etc)
A bit in a hurry now to go to work..... pls drop me a PM if you need assistance.

It does loads of other stuff as well as being able to transfer pics between devices an upload to Facebook/Flickr etc
I use it almost daily and you don't need the faf of iTunes or connecting is cable..

But note that with the current iOS versions you do not need to connect cables any longer. Syncing happens automatically and wirelessly.
Check out an app called PhotoSync for the iPad, it's only a couple of quid, there is a free downloadable mac app (and windows if needed). You basically start the app on the iPad and tell it to receive photos, then drag and drop potos on your mac onto the photosync icon in the menu bar. They are then transferred wirelessly to the iPad and you can specify which album on the iPad to put them in.

OHO - that looks like the answer to a maiden's prayer for the technologically challenged oldie [ me ]
Got really fed up and slipped into Apple this am - guy in there scratched his head about my problem but eventually we got it done [ the Pad only wanted to pull in from iPhoto and I , being me and having down all my PP work in Aperture , didn't want this ] the Photos are now on the iPad and my syncing problem has also been sorted - for some reason , since I went over to Lion the MBP and Pad weren't talking to each other so my Calendars wouldn't sync either.
Photosync I will be looking at I do have dropbox but as I understand it though I can put photos in that they can only be see if the Pad is online and there are plenty of times it's not .
Cheers

OK - running MacBook Pro, Aperture and my little iPad2.
Now last time I had to do this I did it from the camera card via the little adaptor thingy and they all tumbled into the iPad but then I had to try and edit them on it - not as good a result as I wanted.
However this time I don't have the card [ it's in London 'cos my mate snaffled the camera and went a bit trigger happy with it - he had an absolute ball using it ]
Now I have the pics I want to put on it both on my desktop and in Aperture [ they have all gone through PP ].
I synced the iPad and while it was connected tried to drag one of the pics over and drop it onto the Pad - no joy [ it told me it couldn't play it ]
There doesn't seem to be a way to export the 16 I want directly from Aperture to the iPad.
Any of our Macheads got an idea ? I really feel rather stupid - I'm sure there's an easy way to do it - but I'm blowed if I can see it.
