Does anyone know if Fujica M42 and Pentax M42 mounts are compatible/interchangeable?

Yes it is the same and compatible. M42 is M42!

I have a couple of Fujica Fujinon M42 mount lenses and have no issues with mounting them on my K1 or K3 cameras with a PK to M42 adapter.

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

That's what I thought. But I'm after a Tamron Adaptall to M42 mount and I'm being told the Fujica M42 is not the same.

I believe that the M42 mount with rear pin to stop down the aperture is as far as it goes in being fully compatible. Several manufacturers developed their own system later of allowing open-aperture metering on M42 cameras and lenses and I think they all used different systems, Pentax and Fuji among them. In most cases the open-aperture metering system is all that is incompatible, so the lenses will mount and work but there'll be no O.A. metering. In other cases I believe that lenses may not mount.

I might have a Tamron PK adapter knocking around somewhere. Pretty sure I got the lens (35-70mm) in a job lot but it's not too smart looking (looks as though it's got some fungus/coating loss/haze/similar) so I've never really used it.

Thanks Ben, but it's the Adaptall to Pentax M42 I'm after.
