I take it that is for unlimited cloud storage, otherwise it is still free for up to 1000 images. I don’t know how it compares with other cloud storage facilities but I would have thought one which also backs up documents and files would be more useful at that price level.

I really use it mostly for storage and posting the odd photo and there are cheaper solutions out there I'm sure. Just seems a shame as I have been a member since around 2010 and they seem to be pricing themselves higher than their worth (to me anyway and I rarely change anything unless absolutely necessary)

The new Flickr management realised that they were running at a loss as the site wasn’t conceived as a cloud storage site but that is what many used it for, so I guess that is the reason for incremental increases.
I just checked Dropbox, it is £95.88/year for 2 TB and double that for 3 TB, so unless you do a lot of sharing in comparison Flickr is good value. Smugmug is about £8/month for unlimited and for that you get a basic website as well but like Flickr is photos only. For my work files and folders I use Apple iCloud at £2.50/month and there is probably room there for some photos as well but I just rely on a couple of hard drives instead. I guess these cloud storage sites are aimed at pro and semi-pro photographers for whom the cost would be tax deductible and very damaging if they lose photos but if this is just a hobby then I agree it is a stretch.

Already bailed out. Dropped over 8K photo's. Now down to 46 photo's. I wasn't prepared to pay the new fees.

I never had much on Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/153047920@N07/ and never had much engagement, I like it as a sort of portfolio on my phone. I have less than 500 pics on my page, and I’m embarrassed by some of the older images. But $70? No thanks. Having said that, I find other people’s photos a useful resource, so maybe the problem is that the funding model doesn’t reflect the value different people get from the service.

Ipernity: £37.95 a year.
I bought a 3 1/2 year subscription up to November 2023 for £113.70.
If you want lots of engagement, being "explored" and all that, then Ipernity is very quiet. If you want somewhere easy to store and repost photos, it works very well.

PS I'm not sure if it still works, but they did have a "import all your photos from Flickr" feature back in 2013 when lots of people were looking to jump ship (including me). I've been with them ever since and am very happy with it.

I have used Flickr for years. You are correct the new management discovered it was a loss-making enterprise and made many changes. Gone is the very slow loading for example.
If you want to store full sized images and be able to share them easily it is a great site. If you want a cheap option with stripped exif, and low res images there are plenty to choose from.

Hmm, I paid €48 in September, that's $56 at today's rates. I have over 5000 images there so I suppose I'm tied to it. I need to start making use of it as cloud storage to get my full money's worth but need to find the best way to separate what I want to share from what I only want to back up.
It's a superb site though, and an excellent resource. While not as active as dedicated fora, many groups are informative and useful, so I enjoy that aspect too.
We're used to getting everything for free online and at the same time we complain that we're mined for information... Nothing is free. Not even on the internet.

You can select the privacy level for each photo - public, friends and family, or private, which is what I do for family photos. I think this can be done using albums as well.

My Flickr subscription is up for it's yearly renewal and I notice the price has increased dramatically.
2017 - $24.95
2018 - $34.99
2019 - $49.99
2020 - $71.88
That's triple the price of 3 years ago, I think the time has come to look elsewhere.
