Dividing Euro price of 1199 by 1.15 to get Sterling rate means should be between £999 - £1099

The Tamron version seems to be available in supported mounts for half that price!

Cheaper than the current 60-250mm price by quite a margin. (SRS £1230).

We really are in need of a full frame 1.4x teleconverter now, the 70-210mm, 70-200mm, 150-450mm and presumably the upcoming FF 70-300mm could all make use of one.

No doubt there will be performance comparisons with the f2.8, good to see a fixed aperture and internal zoom. Would I swop? I’m not sure but if I had the choice the smaller lighter one would be favourite for those reasons.

819g as opposed to 2030g for the f2.8 version. SRS have a price drop this month on the 70-200 f2.8, the cynic in me wonders if this is to lower the trade in value for customers wanting to swap.

That's the case for all Pentax models which are based on Tamron lenses. I'd like to see a comparison of the possible differences (build quality, coatings) one day but I'm not aware of any at present.

I think Pentax could benefit from using more Tamron designs to flesh out it's FF line-up (35/1.8, 45/1.8 for example).

This is not the reason for the current price on the F2.8

The price drop is because I have a few lenses left over from the winter lens promotion which I can offer at the discount. The price of the F2.8 will increase once these are sold.

In that case I will wait until you have sold out before asking about trading in my F/2.8 for the F/4
