A rare sunny spell last week saw me, unusually in recent times, ready with my camera during a work break . I had the K7 and M75-150 F4 zoom, an oldy but a goody which I thoroughly enjoyed putting through its paces again after a long break. Needless to say it was a pleasure to work with, lovely zoom and focussing actions! Here's a few from the session .....

Thanks for your views , Nigel

1st class shots Nigel, and colours are wonderful!. All very nice but think number 3 is my favourite, love that deep red colour behind contrasting with the two white flowers. Yes some of these older lens are still giving excellent results!

Lovely shots Nigel, great detail in that 1st one, also like the 3rd and last.
C&C welcome.

Very nice Nigel. That lens is one of my favourites...so easy to work with, lovely colour rendition and a nice range for flowers.

Very nice, Nigel. I prefer 1 and 5 and, of those, would choose 1 for its subdued background. I also like 6, but only its top half!

Cheers.

Detail; strong colour; bokeh..... what's not to like !

The old lenses can still give modern ones a run for their money. Well done Nigel.

Thanks Jeremy, Don, Karlo, Philip and Peter ....

There's no doubting the real practical value of the old manual lens. I think it made focusing easier to experiment with, quick and smooth ...... (I'm thinking this particular type of shot would actually he more work on my other options, the D FA28-105 or Tamron 70-300, even allowing for the stop down metering process also), so it's not just a choice for nostalgic or ultra-budget reasons.

I had to laugh ... A work colleague, non-photographer, saw the camera and asked to see the shots, which he admired, and of course commented on my 'professional' camera . My copy of the 75-150 is pristine and looks like its box has only just been unsealed, so I asked him how old did he think my lens was....? He looked serious nd tried hard to give the right answer ....' about 3 months ...?' !!

When I said it was nearer to 38 years, he just looked bemusedly as if I must he having a little joke.

Sometimes it's nice to have an interest that hasn't really changed completely into something else over the decades.

All lovely shots, Nigel but I go with the popular choice of No 3.

Fabulous vibrant set, I'll buck the trend and go for 6, which I think is the left hand flower of 3,
Liking 7 nearly as much. I like the way you have framed the oof areas to lead into the focus of the shot, unashamed pun.
All great though.
Must resist manual lens pull

The old ones are always the best - and he just proved it !
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Hey, watch it! I haven't quite reached 50 yet.

Or were you referring to the lens ?

Thanks also Derek, yes I rather enjoyed getting some foreground bokeh for a change and the creamy white of the tulips was perfect.

Lovely work, Nigel.

Great detail in the texture of some of those blooms.

I agree with David about the quality of some of the old manual glass but I'm afraid I tend to be lazy and keep using my AF Sigma 18-250 or Pentax 18-135 when I'm 'out and about' away from home.

Best regards
Peter
