Well I've got it started, I would have done the one below but I had the lens on F1.4 and you can see the CA from the high contrast and the softness of the lens. Great for a portrait but not great for this shot. Of course the moment had passed.

Lurking is shirking.!

Hey thanks for that Gareth - I wondered about it being a rock face, but then thought - nah, couldn't possibly be, because they don't build houses inside quarries...

It all makes perfect sense now

Now that sounds like a challenge to Stefan...

Many thanks for a challenging one, i-Berg, and well done to the winners. It's interesting you suggested removing a possible distraction in the background. The shot may have been better, yes, and so well spotted by you, but I deliberately don't do that, almost always. If it's in the frame it's in the shot as a found object so to speak. Not everyone's cuppa, I realize. I suppose in part this is a reaction to the huge number of overcooked images one sees on Flickr where there is a temptation to overdo the boosting and tidying in order to make a picture more noticeable at postage-stamp size. It then becomes a real eyeball-searer with most of the subtlety gone when seen at larger sizes.

I suppose what attracted me to the shot was that rather anal number on the boat - licence present and correct in triplicate! - being subverted and overrun by the willow leaves.

And I liked that too - the background was only a minor suggestion, and I certainly respect your reasons for doing it the way you presented the image.
