Here's the discussion thread for Fortnightly Competition #66.

As is the norm, I will bow out as soon as the first entry is posted.

Good luck and happy chatting!

I'm in with a rather traditional spring image.

I've been rather busy recently but took some well needed time-out this morning, when the wind dropped, to capture this image.

Apologies for not participating in the recent competitions. Some time ago, perhaps a little rashly, I agreed to review, comment on and judge the annual photo competition for the local U3A branch. I have just finished ploughing through 74 pictures and now only have to pull it all together ready for a presentation on Tuesday. Then perhaps, if I survive, I'll get my life back .

Tony, sorry you don't like my entry. Granted, it's not a particularly pleasant image but it was never intended to be. It is my interpretation of the competition theme.

I would also point out that we have 3 cats and they are forever bringing home dead creatures. The mouse was already dead when I found it, so be assured that no creatures were deliberately traumatised or killed.
The blood is fake blood from Halloween.

Regards, Karl

Appreciate the reply and accept the scenario - just my reaction to death I suppose - comes with the territory these days.

Just had a read through this thread now that the competition is closed and I have posted the results. Karl, I am so glad that that shot was set up and that you didn't deliberately set a trap for the competition! I don't think I could have handled that being on my conscience!

Fiona, I had the idea for the shot right from the start but no mouse.
I even bought a rubber rat as it looked like I would be using that, but then the pesky cats left a dead mouse which I found one morning.
So hopefully no harm done

I'm glad that's what happened, and thank you for thinking so far out of the box! I've given you a Commended for that, unfortunately it didn't get a place as I still can't decide whether I like it!

Cheers Fiona and thanks for the judging.
I don't think I ever expected to win, however the 'Commended' for doing something a bit different is very much appreciated.

And yes you are possibly right - a smidgen more space above the mouses head would not go amiss.
