MZ-5N in 2000 (for the wedding & honeymoon in Cyprus), after very many years of Practicas but "pining" for a Pentax until I could afford one - The MZ-5N is now in the happy (I hope!) hands of another forum member.
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Thanks to the many of you for revealing your origins with Pentax!

This poll is quite revealing - 7 out of 10 Pentax owners started with Pentax film, even more if we include other K mount film cameras.

Interesting to note that the vast majority of the magnificent 7 began with older manual focus cameras; far fewer came from Pentax autofocus beginnings. Maybe it tells us something, like when we former (and current) film users pop our clogs, Pentax might only have a miniscule market share. Or maybe this interest in analysing statistical data means I'm just an anorak!

Either way, let's keep the poll going - if you haven't responded please give it a thought and maybe a vote.

No, they didn't! Or at least this poll doesn't make this the correct conclusion. With the sample size it's not significant. Also, the sample is self-selecting which doesn't give us a true picture.

A bit late to the poll - but here goes.
First 'proper' camera was an ME Super in 1981 [82?] soon followed by a used K1000. Both still work - and the lenses [an M 50 1.7 & M 135 2.5] are in current use on my K10. There's value for money !

You must be getting REALLY old - I think I can remember pretty much every camera I bought from the first (folding 620 size Kodak Junior II) when I was about 13-14! OTOH maybe that means that at 65+ I am suffering from age-related memory issues whereby I can remember the very old things but not the latest (mm - did I have my lunch or not

Used my father's S1a over 35 years ago, ended up with a Zenit TTL, and then finally caught a Pentax S1a with over-the-top light meter and a 50mm 1.4
I think it was about 30 years ago... cost £45 IIRC (saved for ages!!)

Still have them both - but they are in need of a huge amount of TLC.

Then through MEF/MZ-5/Z1/*ist-D/K10D/K20D/K7/K5/K5IIs
(and family have/had ME-Super, *ist-Ds, Q)
