Thinking in terms of making a collection of photos of such items, so far I've come up with:
1. The Pentax Spotmatic
2. The Leica IIIg
3. The Coca Cola bottle
4. The iPhone
5. The Kodak film box
6. The original Mini
7. The mini-skirt
8. The Chelsea Boot
9. Microsoft Windows
10. The Police Telephone Box

Any others?
Best regards, John

There's a series on BBC currently (friday evenings) called the Genius of Design and they often single out specific design icons - I think the series covers from the start of the 20th century to present day. I have been enjoying it in any case. Off the top of my head they have included...

Motorway signage
The S-chair
The tupperware box
The model T Ford
The De Haviland Mosquito
The Sony Walkman (the original one from 1979)

My memory is drying up now... but others here may have seen it or there is probably an accompanying book... might be worth a sly browse in Waterstones if you get the chance

Sorry to be negative but I don't think Microsoft Windows could be as it wasn't ever very original.

How about the Hawker Harrier?

...it looks as if the Genius of Design series (four episodes so far) is on the BBC iPlayer - might be worth a look...:
