I agree. The f/1.2 thing is a gimmick. If you want portraits you've got the FA43 in that bracket.

The Distagon 25mm is not well liked, I thought? You could instead grab the Distagon 21mm and get some much needed width.

If you were using Micro-Four-Thirds you could use the Zeiss M lenses. 18/35/50 set runs about $3200 at B&H.

Neither is the 43 according to Photozone or Lenstip (not well liked that is)
Distagon 21 is not available in ZK, widest is the Distagon 25 which is a focal length I like.

So my first Carl Zeiss (T* 2/50 Makro-Planar) lens has arrived. Before I have even mounted it on a camera and taken a shot I know that i'm in trouble, serious trouble. These things are just beautifully built. Damping on the focusing ring feels luxurious. The hood clicks into place with a tactile and audible click. Not overly heavy but has that hewn from solid feel that smacks of quality. Little things but they all add up to an overwhelmingly favorable first impression and make me want more!

They are totally addictive aren't they !

The 35/2 is an absolutely awesome lens and I believe it's the cheapest in their range (might be wrong on that). The newer 28mm is held in very high esteem and I would also recommend the older Contax Zeiss 28/2.8 which was my landscape lens bar none on PK (in fact I may still have that - and it would be for sale if I do), incredibly sharp and with that Zeiss 'look'.

*goes downstairs to check* Nope, that ones gone but if I end up with a Pentax FF I'd have no hesitation in buying another one.

Of course, some people like lack of detail, coma out the yin-yang, no discernible depth of field, collapsed dynamic range, and so on. Some people like gimmicks.
