Catch-in-focus with a Sigma f8 mirror

I have, I'm sure, followed the instruction book when trying c-i-f on my K7 with the Sigma, but without success.

In the book it says as something comes into the (pre-set) plane of focus, the shutter will fire.
Should it work on a static subject, by slowly focusing "through" the subect, firing when focus hits on the subject?

Any help/advice/experience will be gratefully recieved!

Roger.

I have the K-7 and a Sigma 600mm mirror F8 and I used catch in focus for these - Scroll to the zapCats (boats) link

I set the catch in focus in the menu C - 5 - 35 set to 2.
once done set the camera to AF.S focus point at your subject and turn focus slowly while pressing the release and the shutter should fire. You will need to use as high a shutter speed as possible or your shots will be blurred so to compensate push the ISO up to 1600 or above, grainy pics are better than blurry pics.
