Cash Converters have an apparently opened but never used K1 II at a good price

Excellent price - I think the term "Opened but never used" has several interpretations nowadays, the most common being by the person selling it

I've bought from them twice in the distant past, both times the items were faulty - one was a simple return and refund, the other took weeks to sort out. I would consider buying from them if it was something quite rare, but with a large dose of caution

In my experience of buying from a place that knows very little about camera gear, they often don't identify faults but the flip side of that is they can't argue with you when you send it back with an accurate description of the fault.

It does have a twelve month warranty so I'd say it's a pretty safe buy, certainly more so than buying from a forum.

I know what you're saying Jonathan but in practice it can be difficult and time consuming to get your money back in the event of a fault being identified - most shops will react positively and act correctly but I have have several transactions that have been painful to say the least. My personal view of places like CC and CEX are that they are less likely to describe an item correctly, will have almost no knowledge of the item and it can be a slow process to return and get a refund.

But I do agree that these places have the potential to offer a proper bargain (they are less likely to know proper market values than camera shops) indeed some members of this forum have benefited from them before.

As for a comparison against buying from a forum member - then that will depend on many factors, but you are likely to get a honest evaluation and often a very good price from many. Now let me see what I can tempt you with next Jonathan

I've been very happy with all the items I've bought on this forum.
