Hallo pentaholics!

I need a Cable release or Cable Switch for my *istD and I need it NOW! As a matter of fact I was needed it yesterday... I see the remote but the instruction says that it triggers after 3 seconds! Is it true???
Where can I get the Cable reliese if the remote is really so useless?
And one another thing. Is anyone of you see this thing? What do you think about it?

I saw a review of this screen shade (or one very similar to it) in a recent magazine. It had a good report but it apparantly needs a bit of practice to close it down. I think it has side 'wings' which might be difficult to close one-handed.

Can't help you with the cable switch I'm afraid. Ebay is a good source for those. I think there is a german seller of them, a delivery from China will take several days.

Saso.....if your in a real hurry and speed is more important than cost, you may be able to locally source the Canon RS60E3 remote Shutter Release cable. This works with all Pentax digital bodies.
Cheers

there's more info in these forums about building your own release with a mini stereo jack and a pushbutton switch...if you look you will find...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Saso - no there's no delay. It behaves exactly like the button on the body (including the ability to disable focus on half-press in the custom menu).

Thread worth checking:

and the DIY version:

Hope that helps

I use the *st D, and there's an option to set up a two second mirror lckup which I often use if I'm too lazy to use the remote release (which you can buy at most well-stocked camera stores). It's a quick an dirty solutin, but I'd order the cable if you plan to use it a lot.

I will do exactly as you wrote! Here in Slovenia this thing cost (at the local dealer) round 16 EUR. Fair enough and I dont have to think about it any more!

Or try using a TV remote control to trigger the release by IR! Get out all those remotes, TV, VCR, DVD, Hi-Fi etc, use the Fn button to set the drive mode to Remote control Unit, point them at the camera and press the buttons!
