Released about the same time as the K10D, in one test I read they had to bring in a D200 to compete with the K10D.

ok i suppose saying it is crap is a bit harsh....it is semi crap tho i compared it to images from my k-m when i had it and my opinion is the k-m images were better. zoomed in on pictures to 100% zoom on the d80 shots and it was very fuzzy, not impressed at all to be honest. i did intend buying it to keep as a backup up but would rather sell it.

You may need to differentiate between the body and the lens - that 18-135 Nikon lens does not have the best of reputations.

18-135 is a very average lens so I wouldn't blame it all on the camera

Not a candle compared to the K-5 though and rightly so of course.

its not something i am worried about really no intention on spending money on Nixon lenses. its cost me hundred quid so an easy hundred or two profit.......or at that price i could consider the blender lol

better yet.. create a hoax.... stick a nikon flash unit on it...but mod the flash so it ignites a bunch of thermite inside the flash and then set it off with a self timer and let the thermite melt through the camera... then post a "why did my camera self destruct?" video on youtube....

But i believe the D80 and the k10D used the same sensor though.
It was between those two for me so i did some research.

Yes I believe so, Sony, the D200 also. It was the features and build quality of the K10D thet beat the D80.
