Bought another lens for my K200D

I bought a DA 50-200m WR lens off E-Bay for £68 which complements my 18-55mm. I took a couple of quick photos in my back garden and it seems the lens is nicely sharp

An often overlooked lens, and such great value for money - a short tele-zoom in a WR package with good IQ - nice examples of what it (and you!) can do

I think this lens and the 18-55 WR punch well above their weight when stopped down a bit, especially when compared to the kit lenses of the 90’s. We are spoiled nowadays!

I have the non WR one....

I need to play it more. I rarely ever use zooms... well with the exception of my 10 - 20mm. Even tho I mainly use that at 10mm!!

After seeing you shots. I am gonna make a point of sticking it on, and going out with no other lenses!!

Looks like a good purchase. It's amazing what you can get for a modest sum if you're not wanting to spend a small fortune plus an arm and a leg to get the latest monster that's so sharp you can shave with it. And I'm sure you'll get as much pleasure from the 50-200mm as you would from a much more expensive lens .

To be fair, I'd check on the cat because this copy of the lens looks razor sharp!

Yes I agree and that can also be said for a lot of budget lens these days.

I went through a phase of using primes but found myself always needing something a bit longer or a bit wider ha ha!

I have had more expensive lenses in the past both with Pentax and Olympus but always have found the budget lens more than enough for my own use.

It seems we are like-minded WiltshireBorn as I have just won the same model lens on the well known auction site for £45 inc p&p, hopefully it will be as good as yours. I can't wait to try it.

Nice pic's and nice purchase. The purist prime snobs will often decry zooms but I love 'em even though I have umpteen primes to choose from.

Try the 55-300 if you can. A superb lens with extra reach an relatively cheap.

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

Well that sounds a bigger bargain than what I got lol. There are some bargain lenses out there if you look, why pay hundreds for a lens when you don't have to.

I use to have the 18-135mm which was a good lens but a bit heavy if I remember. I have looked at the 55-300mm it looks like a very good lens too but I will have to hold back on that purchase for a while, my other half is saying "not another camera" "not another lens" LOL

They really don't understand, do they...?

And the 55-300mm is a very good lens. But unless you're desperate for 300mm, it isn't going to give you much more than your bargain 50-200mm. So you can tell your other half in all honesty that you've thought about getting another lens but she's right, you really don't need it. Which should build up credit for you for the time when another lens is definitely needed...
