Van had its major service and cambelt done last week (ouch!) so I popped to Bannau Brycheiniog for a drive out to stretch her legs. Stopped off at two locations to take some images, here are the images from location number one.

Pentax K1ii, D FA 24-70mm, Kase C-PL.

I like the colour one. It gives a better impression of depth and distance. The composition is near perfect.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

I'd be interested to shave a 1/4 off the top and left hand side to bring the attention closer in and clone out that annoying blade of lighter coloured grass at the bottom
I like the colour shot as well, but also something dreamy about the last B&W one too.

To me, the first (coloured) one says 'landscape with horses', the second (mono) one says 'horses with landscape'. I think it's because in the first my eye starts with the white horse and is drawn towards the lake, in the second it starts with the lake and is drawn towards the white horse. Interesting. Perhaps there's a PhD research project lurking there for you Gareth if (when??) you decide to add some more letters to your name .

And just because everyone else is picking favourites, mine is both of the first two. The last doesn't quite do it for me, I'd like to see more of the head of the white horse.

The first two are my choice, with the colour one tops, fine as they are without any crop.

Thanks all, appreciate all the comments. Richard when you see that lighter blade of grass, you can't unsee it.

I know what you mean with the crop and I get the why, but I intentionally composed it this way as when you look closely there is the start of the Taf Fawr, or the River Taff on the left, which runs from about 400 metres behind where I took the image, all the way to Cardiff and the Bristol Channel.

Lovely work especially the B&W. Well captured.
Be well, stay safe, but most of all, invest in memories

They work so well as either colour or monochrome - each bringing a different atmosphere to the image

Lovely work.
But I’m amazed no one has commented about the shape of the lake in the distance having a horses head shape ! Spooky !
