I think it's a Pentax deal, as Clifton Cameras are also doing it.

And the Kp is at £899, meaning an extra £200 off brings it to £699.
The silver Kp is selling for £550 with the extra £200 off.

Yes, but Clifton are not starting at £1,750 before taking the discount off - they are starting at £1,999.
Amazon's basket price of checkout is indeed £1400!!! Pity I have just spent £1300 on a new DFA150-450mm from SRS - which is a bargain anyway.

Ahh my bad, didn't spot that.
Yes it is. I got mine for £1100 last year, because there was £350 discount from Park on a special opening day, and Pentax were doing £150 off. They let me combine them. Utter result.

Good for the online customer...but hundreds of Amazon workers in Italy and Germany are, according to the BBC, on strike today in protest at poor wages and working conditions.
EDIT: I really object to the automatic link on the word 'Amazon' in my comment as well...If I wanted to promote Amazon i'd have done it myself.

I almost clicked though on the Silver KP at £550, but then thought it's only really any use as a paperweight without an InfraRed port

Looks like I'll be sticking with the K-5 for a bit longer

I was a bit tempted on some of the Sony Offers

Even the cable remote isn't standard so my radio transmitter and receiver won't work with it.

It's a very stupid thing to get rid of, isn't it? I used the IR port loads when I was doing astrophotography with my K-3, and even for the odd fun groupshot on my K-1. I guess they want us to use the WiFi app but that's a horror show so no thank you!
EDIT: Here's a thread about the new cable connector, you may be able to adapt your old one. The KP is definitely good for the £550 (it's not a budget camera!)

The KP at 550 is a steal, but I've just bought a Nikon D7500 and Tamron 150 600 in the run up to the BF deals (I know, I know), so that's out of the question. Plus, it is Silver.

£550 is too much for a paper weight!!
I've got a silver one I bought at Ratners for £5 years ago
The Ricoh GR II was also on offer, but that's really looking old now and they never fixed the dust problem.
Just imagine how many K-5 owners are having to look at other makes for an upgrade.
The K-70 has MIC on the rubber door to the socket, but no symbol to show that it's also for the remote cable. I've seen two reviews that say the K-70 hasn't got one. Such lack of attention by the designer is mind boggling
What's more important a remote or a mike?

Well thanks Algi, I feel much better now as I have to sit out all the deals yet again! At least I take comfort that my K7, so well equipped, still has its uses as an actual camera!
BTW surely we should have come up with a more descriptive term for what you're referring to than "IR Port" ....port to me still sounds like a socket.

Port! ..... I'll drink to that!
Just look at the fancy remote that Sony users can get for £20 for most of their cameras. It even controls the focus
