Allium Openings

The tall alliums are opening their buds, their big, globular flower heads will be fully open as soon as they can get a few more days of sun. Here are a few semi-abstracts from the first bursting of the membrane that holds the whole flower head to one of the first open flowers. Trying for something a bit different to the usual 'ball of stars' shots of fully open flower heads. All with K3iii + Irix 150mm macro.

Thoughts, comments etc. welcome as usual.

Excellent colours, superb fine detail and interesting seeing them at various stages of emerging.

Alliums are a great addition to the garden, only slightly let down by their flimsy leaves that don't look as spectacular as the flower head.

Nice natural soft lighting and not overprocessed - lovely thin depth of field and great focal point selection. I prefer this style to the stacked, clinical approach - nice selection Steve

p.s. so much better at the larger size
