Nice capture and composition, just a shame that little bit of blue flower was intrusive at the bottom left on the wing
C&C welcome.

thanks Don, i was a bit miffed about the flower (Bluebell) but there was a breeze blowing it and i could not move or the butterfly would have flown off. i did get other shots but it refused to take the same pose, just cannot get the staff these days

here is another without the flower intrusion but it started to turn away

Thats a shame, my mum always said "blue and green should never be seen " but it works well here
C&C welcome.

i remember that one , the butterfly certainly did stand out and it still did even when on some green leaves as it was so much brighter. hopefully they will be around a while and i get another chance. the place is just starting to come to life, took some friends there a couple of years ago around June and we saw 10 types of butterfly and 2 daytime moths within 20 minutes.

That's really unusual. I have never seen one of those either.

Would be tempted to crop it slightly to lose some of that space to right and the blue at the bottom which should also make the butterfly itself a bit more prominent.

Nice picture though.

thanks Mike, they are not rare it seems but colonies can be localised and some areas have lost theirs, should be around for another month at least so will definitely have another look.
