60 - 250 Lens Foot

Stupidly, and 10 days before going on a safari holiday, I have broken the lens foot on my Pentax 60 - 250 DA*. I've done a google search but can't find anything available in the UK, only in the USA. Has anyone got one they can sell me or suggest where I can get one?

John Pye Technical were great when I had a different issue last year so I've emailed them, but time is short and all suggestions gratefully received.

Many thanks

Ian

Best of luck, they advertise as in stock but I have yet to have an order turn up from them. Always ended up cancelling.

Oh no! I gave them a call and they are confident they can source one from Pentax and get it to me by next week. More fingers crossed!

Bristol Cameras now advise that the tripod mount is not in stock and will take 4 - 6 weeks to arrive from Japan so order cancelled.

A further plea to anyone out there who can help with a replacement mount.

Cheers

If you’re going on safari I wouldn’t think you’d need a tripod foot as you’ll be shooting from a vehicle and light should be good. A small bean bag might be useful to rest the lens on but when I went on safari it never even occurred to me to use a tripod or monopod.

Hi Cayman,
I completely agree, but there are some lodges on the itinerary by waterholes where (apparently) there are good shots to be had at dawn and dusk, so I figured I’d need a tripod for lower light stuff. I’d rather have the tripod and not need it than need it and not have it. That thought process is why my bags are so heavy!

Cheers
Ian.

I am in the USA and could not find one here - I had to order it from Japan (via eBay)

Probably a bit late now but this one on ebay (allbeit in Japan) listet for the Pentax DA* 300mm I think might be compatible. I say might but I'. fairly sure that I read somewhere that they are interchangeable. Perhaps some more knowledgeable person here can confirm the validity of this.

Another downside to the distance are the criminal postage charges required by the seller. I there is compatibility however, it perhaps offers another line of enquiry. Good luck and most of all, enjoy your holiday come what may.

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

The original one has a slightly larger stand-off distance from the lens than the 300 version but both work interchangeably.
All the gear with no idea
