Apologies John - I seem to keep picking people who don't want to pick up the challenge!

Gargoyle by Francisbd – this is an image full of texture and shape. Normally I would question having such a large expanse of wall in the picture but in this case it perfectly balances the expanse of sky on the right. Similar shapes with contrasting tone and texture works very well - a tighter crop wouldn’t be as effective. These “triangles” perfectly frame the edge of the roof where all the interest is – including our fierce gargoyle. Very good mono treatment also.
Welsh Dragon by Dewsburya. Apart from the blatant attempt to appeal to my Welsh ancestry this is a very good image in its own right. The dragon is well framed within the framework of the bench – and the leading lines of the bench create a strong dynamic element – taking your eye into the picture and then back again to the dragon. Another good mono – might have been possible to brighten the dragon a little, so it is on a par with the brightness of the bench .
The Lincoln Imp by PRYorkshire. An excellent capture of the Imp – who can be quite difficult little blighter to find as I know from personal experience. The play of light and shade is excellent – whether this was caught in camera or created in post processing is irrelevant – it just works really well. The imp is well exposed and framed by the “V” of the architrave. Good composition.
Vampire by Hazyj . Excellent environmental portrait with a bit of cosplay thrown in for fun. The image conveys a sense of action and menace – and there is just enough detail in the background to place the action in Whitby – entirely appropriate for the story as well. Photographically exposure and composition are spot on the colours of the costumes are sympathetic – it all works very well.
I'm still playing with my toys by Noelcmn. Another dragon – this time a bright and breezy one. Maybe not such a frightening creature this time – but very well caught . Composition and focus help to almost bring the toy to life and the composition makes the best of its sinuous shape. A simple but very pleasing image.
Dragon by EricD1306. Our third dragon – and another fun image ; this one doesn’t look too frightening either. Well framed in the image perched on the log which gives some feel for the shape and size of the creature – it’s amazing what they can do with wire mesh these days. The background is a little busy but I don’t think the author could have done much about that.
And so to the winners –
First Place = Vampire by Hazyj
Runner Up = Gargoyle by Francisbd
Joint 3rd place =all other images! Well done everyone!
