Back Street Owl by GarethjMorgan

I liked this immediately, the almost derelict, abandoned feel it portrays but still retains its soul from times past.
It has the garage, workshops and all sorts activities within the frame and yet has still survived a reconstruction by city planners for trendy apartments.

Looks like a scorching day and it comes across in the busy scene with so many people out and about.
A chromatic bleached look suits the photograph in the midday conditions but still retains loads of detail and debt of field. I think you’ve managed to describe Haworth in this single capture with a punch.

An interesting take on “street” and U27-4 probably has spent many many hours on them, more than some people, with difficult tasks like disrupting traffic, making lots of noise, striking the odd water mains when it shouldn’t have and being a general nuisance to pedestrians but we will for give the shiny cute digger machine and a well taken colorful photograph indeed.

Probably a more realistic scene of daily life in NY and not the hustle and bustle in other parts. I like the perspective and functional architecture of the times, leading to the taller structures of the city in the distance. Well captured scene from 2014

It could but almost be a scene from the past, plenty grainy enough😇 . The K1000 brings back fond memories. I tried to look up the mini bus type but failed to find it, is it a member of the Pictish invaders?

Pompeii Street by PRYorkshire

Ancient streets and must have been a wonderful experience to see what they uncovered.
I presume that mountain is the offending article that rained it’s terror and ash.
Nice detailed photograph and framed for scale.

Good capture of daily life in parts of the world we do not see often enough
The seller lady has what looks like excellent fresh produce beautifully laid out , the men to the left are blocking the view but the sellers eyes are firmly fixed on the women behind them as she is the one that will be possibly purchasing as the women rule the roost in family affairs. Nice colour in harsh light.

You are braver than I, to position ones self on those tram lines but it does make for good view, of both sizes of the street.
Again harsh light conditions but handled perfectly.

Street Meeting in the Mist by Noelcmn

Early morning muted colour scene, the attention drawn to a discussion being held in the middle of the road. I’m glad I’m not driving towards them and having them to move out of my way😰
Straight up uncomplicated photograph, that has a story we Can only guess

Old Backstreet by Retsoor

Vintage vignette encompasses a scene of terraced housing within a town that many will be familiar with from there own childhood . The winding incline lends a balance to that pace of life.
Very nice overall treatment with the hint of sepia, and the composition is excellent.

I think the street needs a mow, dear by Dromfit

I want to put a deposit on it now and I’ll mow the lawn (street)
Thanks for the explanation and very interesting facts about the ways of living within the nature that surrounds. They the people of those generations could certainly teach a thing or two to our zero carbon, globalist driven politicians

Well Sid’s having none of it, especially at this moment in time.
Humorous street photograph and nice colour and framing but if the missus finds out, that shopping bag won’t be the only thing swinging from Sid’s arm

Thanks for the great judging. I don't know the bus either, but I went square to emulate old photos too. Sometimes you see the first image submitted and you know its going to be hard to beat, but you still have a try.

And Flan, those houses change hands for silly money, despite that street being the only access for all five... one just went for over 250,000 Euros and it needs work....
I've been inside this one, the first, and it is beautiful.... but the owners aren't looking to sell.... sorry. [Probably worth over 400K€s] You can get cheaper ones, but they tend to be blocked off quarry caves and lack a real house bit.... the other side of the Claise river from us there is an entire one kilometre street of troglodyte homes.... once part of fortifications by Richard Lionheart when this part of France was British!! Lots of work being done on many of them because of their value.....
[400K€ is four times the local average!]
