Weekly #774 The Games people play Competition

Competition Details
Closing Date: 10/07/2022
Judge: garethjmorgan

I'm looking for images of people at play. Sport is an option but a trifle obvious - I'd prefer to see more "playful" ideas - a competitive chess match, a tense game of Twister or Scrabble or - my personal favourite - Kerplunk. Let your imaginations run and channel your inner child.

Frizbee by retsoor – A lovely image and don’t we wish we all there right now – perfect way to cool down!! The image is well composed and well exposed and really conveys the fun of a game of frisbee on the beach . Capturing the frisbee in mid air really enhances the image.

Card players by noelcmn – this looks like quite a serious game – the photograph really captures the intense concentration of the two guys and the whole setting really makes you want to know more. The way they mirror each other is really effective.

Dressing Up by Johnriley – this image really conveys the fun of dressing up – there is a childlike joy in their faces which has been well captured. Lighting has been well handled and there is a perfect depth of field on this image.

Beach Games by Flan – another great beach shot but this is almost abstract. I love the angle at which it is set and the silhouetted figures against that backdrop add to the dynamic atmosphere of the shot. Even though there is very little detail in the figures you know exactly what is going on – and the kicked off shoes at the front of the picture add to the sense of time and place

Arrrh Jim lad by Perspicador - . Ah! the world of make believe – two good friends playing pirate. (The title really helps with this one!) Fabulous colours – the parrot tying into the jumper. These guys are obviously very happy in each other’s company – but is the man playing with the parrot – or vice versa.??

Young lad having fun by Vic Cross – a really dynamic image. Almost a silhouette – just a bit og fdetail in the lads face – but the angle of the figure on the diagonal is great ; the wall with a hint of shadow anchors the picture and adds a sense of jeopardy – as does the fact that he is well above the clouds in the other corner. Normally light flare would be taboo but in this image I think it adds to the overall feel.

So thanks for a high quality set of images – I have had really problems picking as a winner as I really like them all – but I have to so this is it –

1. Young lad having fun by Vic Cross
2. Beach Games by Flan
3. Dressing up by Johnriley
I would like to Highly Commend the other three.
