Weekly #658 - Making/Manufacture Competition

Competition Details
Closing Date: 08/03/2020
Judge: Nigelk

This week I'd like to see your photographs that relate to making or manufacture, past or present. This could be industrial or arts and crafts, I'm even happy to have images of historic factories and equipment as long as the content of the image relates to something being made past or present. Please do have a go and join in this weekly bit of fun.
Best regards
Nigel

Morning All,
First off, thank you all for your entries a wonderfully varied selection of interpretations.

Perspicador- Apple Orchard
Natures produce, an aspect of making I hadn't thought of, so well done on expanding my thinking.

mr.mellow- The Candle Maker
I recognise this man from my visit! It was dark in there, nicely captured our man in action. A great living museum with loads of photo opportunities.

JAK- Reconstruction of Historic Carriage
Well thought through and well framed shot, giving us the drawing in the foreground so we know what we are looking at.

Johnwnjr- Great Witley Court Fountain
Been made to work, well it certainly is making quite a splash! What an amazing piece of sculpture and engineering, it has the wow factor. The light catching the water and we can see quite a lot of the detail in the dark areas, nicely done sir.

lemack-j - Birthplace of Queens
What a poignant reminder of our once great industrial past. Maybe slightly heavy PP for my taste but, the effect is great and it says so much.

vic cross- Craftsman at Work
A man with his hands on the tools, always lovely to see, well caught but, I would like to see a bit more of what he is working on.

SteveF - Thirsty Work
Like the choice of B&W, a good street shot. I was chatting to my wife only last week how I don't see the corn dollies much anymore. When I was a kid they were everywhere.

Aitch53- Staines Lino Statue
And what a great statue it is, you've filled the frame and chosen a great angle. Another reminder of a great British manufacturing success story.

PRYorkshire- The Big Melt
Lovely bit of heavy industrial manufacture on display, lovely to see. I'd love to go to a steel works like this, well caught.

EricD1306- Spinning
These reenactments are another great opportunity for us photographers. With all the ropes and other clutter I think I would have gone in close to focus on the action. You've given us the wider scene so plenty to see and you've judged the exposure well in difficult lighting.

Noelcmn- Tractor in the making
Another nice street shot. How to try and make something from almost nothing. Behind the bright colours lies a tough life I bet.

johnriley- Norman at Work
Our last entry and for me it steals the show. Dynamic angle, we can see the piece, the sculptor and we've even got some motion blur from the blow to the chisel.

1st Place johnriley
2nd Place JAK
3rd Place lemac-j
Well done and thank you for entering to everyone else, fascinating selection.
Best regards
Nigel

Thanks for the coveted second spot Nigel and well done to my fellow podiumers (or whatever the collective noun for that should be!)
