Weekly #488 - Architecture in HDR Competition

First, I want to thank you all for participating! I didn’t expect quite so many entrants and in my book, every one of these images is a winner. Absolutely stunning! I’m sure some of you have looked at these photos and wondered “how the heck is she going to do this?” LOL I’m not sure either, but let’s get started….

1. Stone Cottages by Perspicador – Lovely photo, HDR not taken too far. Perfect in my opinion for this image. I like that red door, that stands out with the gray.

2. A 21st Century English Village by JAK – oh that sky amongst the brick and mortar village, bold, and dramatic. A superb image

3. Chillingham Church by tyronet2000 – Beautiful, I like the sunlight beaming through to top detailing the stone. You were able to capture the gold reds. I like this a lot.

4. Birmingham Jewelry Quarter by Conexus – Another stunning image; I can count every brick in that building. These old building have so much character. Well done.

5. Newcastle by AndrewA – Great composition and lighting, romantic, moody. Another favorite.

6. Lyme Hall Courtyard by Johnjm – oh my goodness, gorgeous! Such symmetry and beautiful color that brings out the age a beauty of this building. I even see a ghostly figure in the windows. Awesome image and editing.

7. Victorian England by johnriley – Wow! The greens and yellows blend perfectly with the stone. How lucky you were to have such an interesting subject. Love this!

8. Millenium Bridge by Mag07 – So glad you went a little over the top! Beautiful! HDR suits this image so well. Is that a man I see standing on the cube? Very nice lighting and detail!

9. Bird taking off by PixMaker – Outstanding, your symmetry is spot on. Beautiful building and great editing.

10. Glass roof by To2n – This is incredible; however after checking your EXIF I see you shot it with a Canon. But since we are here, I love this. Great shot and composition. Unfortunately, it is a Canon.

11. Apartments in Rosebank by Noelcmn – This is a cool shot with lovely sky. Very surreal and nicely composed

12. Heading Home by Simonmac – I love this photo, and what it portrays; it tells a story. Magnificent.

13. Pretty Damned Ugly by Paulb531- lol, I have to agree. Someday I’ll tell you about the ugly building I had to build in Brooklyn. I get paid to build them, not design them.

14. The Palace at Helfenburk by Abe_Normal – lovely photo and good composition I think I would have liked to see this one pushed a little further.

I don’t need to tell you how difficult this was. As I said in the beginning, every one of these photos was a winner. I feel honored to judge.

Commenting as a non-entry this week... just too busy... can anyone use some tomatoes?...
I loved looking at these pix... a very interesting subject...and some great shots.
The person To2n who entered a Can*n shot... my comiserations.... been there, almost done that...
at least five times I've had to drop my prize winning shot and enter something else....
because it had been taken with my old Fuji!! The problems with trawling through your personal picture library....
I now keep the original camera filename attached to each shot....
and there is an empty folder with "Fuji beyond here" at the point where I got the *istD!! (And returned to Pentax!!!)
SimonMac's and Tyronet2000's shots were my favourite pair... just loved the light and shade in these two.

As to submitting non Pentax photos, if anyone is in danger of accidentally doing this and uses the Firefox browser, install the plug-in Exify and you'll immediately spot what you've done.
