Thank you all so much for entering, and sorry for the badgering.

I am unwell at the moment so will comment on the winner and places.

Winner
Chaucer April
by kasperbergholt
A wonderful photograph that breathes hope. The tones, composition, atmosphere conjure up a longing. Chaucer to boot (I had to look up the verse!).

Runner Up
Mulberry fight for survival
by Noelcmn
A simple yet powerful image. Life will out. If this little fella doesn't make it many others will.

Third
April shines
by Flan
Shouldn't have entered it? Don't be saft! Lovely, soft, delicious spring.

An honourable mention to Gaze Into the April Face
by grahamwalton
April is becoming a more cruel month....sun, dry, harsh. The opposite of what I wanted, but I like it anyway.

Thank you!

The title of my photo was inspired by your line from The Waste Land.

I was trying to link it back to Eliot’s reference to—and subversion of—the opening lines of Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, where April is anything but cruel.
